Back in the late 1930's, the tour guide book listed Rhodes as "a map name at a junction of a dirt road." In the past sixty odd years, it hasn't changed. On the right is Rhodes Salt Marsh with evidence of salt harvesting still visible. Stone buildings in crumbling condition exist. The builders used a "salt marsh mortar" in the construction of the buildings.
