All I could find about this town was a name on a map. Why the name Divide?
Perhaps because the town was near one such boundary running nearby.
I wasn't surprised that I didn't find Divide despite traveling a number
of rutted dirt paths. Most mining camps were constructed of canvas and
wood. Since wood was a valuable commodity, after a mine petered out, the
buildings were dismantled and reconstructed at other more promising strikes
leaving little to identify the original town's location. Sometimes, all
that remains is a pile of rusting cans but even this was not the case with
Divide.
